I could type for hours and it would not do justice to the vivid insight I received at our Project LIFE visit today. I hope my grandson can qualify for this program, it is exactly what he needs and would increase his odds of success, quality of life and happiness. Project Life... wow a great title for this program!
I am excited to see this program is available to students I serve on my caseload as a Service and Support Administrator Associate with the County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The more opportunities students have to learn from experiential activities, the better they will be prepared to be independent adults.
Our first day of Project LIFE replication training gave us time to look at how and why a mindset change is needed to embrace the belief that all students can grow and meet their full potential when expectations are raised. This is a wonderful multi-faceted program.
After our first three days of training, I feel that I have the knowledge to help make this program grow into something bigger in our school district. The resources and platform are fabulous!
Project LIFE is already providing the education and experiences needed for our students to access Project SEARCH. The fact that when they get to Project SEARCH, they are already well versed in employment expectations, have experience being active participants in their meetings, and can identify their own strengths and weaknesses is a huge plus!!
There were a ton of things that excited me about implementing Project LIFE. Specifically, I was impressed by the program’s valuing of risk taking. Creating an environment that gives dignity to risk-taking by allowing people to try and then learn that it is okay to fail.

The Project LIFE replication training was filled with information about the resources, curriculum and assessments included in the program. Many examples and “where to start” documents that will be incredibly helpful. I loved the action plan document utilized at the end of the training as well.
